Jan. 8 is Final Public Hearing and Vote on Craig Expansion
The Jacksonville City Council on Tuesday Jan. 8 will hold a final public hearing and vote on the controversial plan to allow the Jacksonville Aviation Authority to break its promise to our community by expanding Craig Airport.
If residents fail to attend the Council meeting in large numbers ... it is very likely to be approved.
District 2 City Councilman Bill Bishop. The JAA plan received a recommendation last week for approval from the Council's Land Use and Zoning Committee. Now, only a strong turnout this Tuesday from residents opposed can stop the expansion plans. The Council meeting begins at 5 P.M. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
If residents fail to attend the Council meeting in large numbers and speak out against the expansion plan, it is very likely to be approved, said District 2 City Councilman Bill Bishop.
Residents are encouraged to arrive early as seating could be limited and new security measures at City Hall might create lines and delays at the entrance.
Opponents of the proposal and Craig Covenant members will gather before the meeting beginning at 4 P.M. in Committee Room A at City Hall (across the rotunda from Council Chambers).
